Impression of the making of the Annual Meeting 2011 of the World Economic Forum in Davos

Emma Watson, a UN Women Global Goodwill Ambassador, spoke at the World Economic Forum in Davos, which is predominantly male. As a feminist, it is sometimes difficult to convey the importance and benefits of feminism not only for women but also for men. Watson previously gave a speech in September launching the HeForShe campaign, and her recent speech in Davos presented the next initiative for the HeForShe campaign, known as IMPACT 10x10x10.

emma-watson-urges-men-join-gender-equality-battleIMPACT 10x10x10 is a year-long plan to “galvanize momentum in advancing gender equality and women empowerment.” Watson has received support from representatives secretary-general Ban Ki-moon and UN under-secretary-general and executive director of UN Women Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, both hoping that the launch of IMPACT 10x10x10 will encourage governments, corporations, and universities to act as instruments of change for women’s equality.
